OK, So All Cats Aren’t Worthless – Even Military Working Dogs Like This One

Max, a 21-pound (!) tabby at the Luke Air Force Base clinic in Phoenix, is so cool even the military working dogs like him.

‘Clinic cat on orders to Luke’

I hafta be honest, though, and say it is a little disappointing a vet clinic would let a cat get that heavy.  Plus this story was originally run the day after National Pet Obesity Awareness Day, too.

Maybe they need to let the MWDs chase him around a little (please don’t e-mail me or send me a buncha “How dare you!” comments).

A Must Have Book For Everyone With A Dog: “Speaking for Spot”

I’m not gonna make a lot of excuses for not posting much lately, other than to say my experience matches that of so many others over the last year or two – things move so much faster on places like Twitter and Facebook now that blogs almost seem outmoded. They still have their place, but generally for longer things, and there’s a whole content ownership discussion as well – stuff I won’t go into here.

I also don’t mean to turn into ‘book review central’, but there is one other book I’ve been meaning to mention that’s a must buy for anyone with a dog (it’s that good) – Speaking for Spot by Dr Nancy Kay:

http://www.speakingforspot.com/

You can read a ton of great reviews about it with a lot more detail, but I will just say this…

There’s a lotta stuff in Speaking for Spot that it’s either taken most of us 10-15 years or more of not always so pleasant experience and several dogs to learn, or that we didn’t learn even with all that experience, and you can save yourself a whole lotta time and grief by just getting and reading it now.  You’ll be way ahead of the game.

The One and Only Veterinary Blog You Need to Read – Dolittler.com

Don’t know about you, but I’ve got tons to read, and I’m always looking for smart ways to cut that back, especially by finding the proverbial “one-stop shop” where I can get what I need all at one shot.

Most of the time I don’t even come close, but here’s an exception:  Dolittler.com – the one and only veterinary site that I read, and the only one you need to read, too.

Dr. Patty Khuly, a veterinarian in Miami, FL runs it and writes not only about many common health issues but a lotta “inside” veterinarian things, too, many of which are controversial.  She pulls no punches, either, which I really like, and manages to do that while not being obnoxious at the same time – a tough trick most people don’t seem to manage (I wish I could do it as well as she does).  There’s probably been a few times I’ve disagreed with her about something, but must not be many because I can’t even remember one right now.

She provided a lot more background info about the site, why she created it, and so on, in this interview from a few months ago:

“The Benefits of Blogging: An Interview With Dr. Patty Khuly”

Definitely check it out – I’m willing to bet it will quickly become a must read place in your RSS feeds, just like it is in mine.
